A Four day working week - What are your views?
While the concept of a four-day workweek has been gaining traction, its implementation remains limited worldwide.
Here's a glance at some countries leading the charge already;
1️⃣ Belgium: Leading the European front, Belgium legalised the four-day working week in 2022, offering both individuals and companies flexibility in their scheduling.
2️⃣ United Arab Emirates: Government employees in the UAE have enjoyed a four-day workweek option since July 2023.
3️⃣ Iceland: Despite its small size, Iceland boasts one of the highest rates of four-day workweek with nearly 90% of workers embracing reduced hours.
4️⃣ Lithuania: While not mandated, Lithuania supports parents with young children by allowing them to work 32 hours a week, effectively enabling a four-day workweek for many.
5️⃣ France: Although not legally enforced, the 35-hour workweek law in France has spurred an increasing number of businesses to offer a four-day workweek, with 10,000 workers already signed up to the new structure.
The shift towards shorter workweeks reflects a growing recognition of the importance of work-life balance. Are you ready to embrace the change? What are your views or should we stick with a traditional 5 day week?
